Launch of St Patrick’s Week Cultural Tours of Belfast

The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Naomi Long met Hostelling International Northern Ireland’s (HINI) international volunteers Elodie Flennia and Arianna Boscarino at Belfast City Hall on Friday 5th March to mark the launch of a range of tours and activities taking place during St Patrick’s week from Belfast International Youth Hostel.

HINI’s local and international volunteers will be celebrating St Patrick’s Day by providing a range of tours and activities for hostel guests and visitors during the week of Monday 15th – Friday 19th March, departing from Belfast International Youth Hostel. Daily morning tours will include the Belfast Dander, a free city walking tour taking in the history and culture of Belfast including visits to various attractions and such as the City Hall, Belfast’s Botanic Gardens, Queens University and the famous Crown Liquor Saloon. HINI volunteers will also provide a Pub Hop Tour of traditional pubs in Belfast and also organise a trip to the St Patrick’s Day Parade and concert at Custom House Square.

Councillor Naomi Long commented: “Belfast has so much to offer visitors, and our city is throwing down the Welcome Mat to everyone for St Patrick's Day - and, in fact, at any time of the year. The hospitality and warmth of welcome here is what helps to make our city so special ".

Hostelling International Northern Ireland operates 6 youth hostels across Northern Ireland in Armagh, Belfast, Enniskillen, Newcastle, Bushmills and Whitepark Bay. Belfast International Youth Hostel is the largest hostel in Northern Ireland and achieved over 43,800 bed nights in 2009, the highest since opening in 1994.
